Average Rating:   9.3   Media Displayer v4.1 by Krofinzki
Description:
Displays media, computer, and DVD stats.

Submitted Review Author's Updates
Review
Media Displayer 1.5 allows you to display to a channel your DVD, Winamp media, and OS/Computer statistical data. This includes operating system, MHz, total space (used/unused), among others. I didn't find any bugs, and the data was accurate.

The stats are displayed to a channel of your choice, by which you select using channel popups. You're also allowed to customize the display settings, such as the colors, in a simple dialog provided.

Reviewed by: Jagfire
4.1
- Added: Option to disable bold in media stats
- Fixed: Minor Mplayerc bug

4.0
- Added: VLC Media Player support - /vlc
- Added: Everest 4.0 support - /everest (read the FAQ please)
- Added: DC++ support - /dcpp
- Added: FlashFXP support - /flashfxp
- Added: FTPRush support - /ftprush
- Added: WMI support through COM - Provides lots more information, a little bit slower though and requires Mirc 6.16+
- Added: Improved (more detailed) /gfx support
- Added: Improved (more detailed) /cpu support
- Added: Improved (more detailed) /screen support (removed Hz since most people use LCD monitors nowadays anyway)
- Added: Motherboard info - /mobo
- Added: Sound card info - /sound
- Removed: moo.dll - No need for it anymore when using mircs COM, also it was detected as virus by some (very lame) antivirus apps.
- Removed: Dialup connection support - Relied on moo.dll and was basically pointless
- Removed: mbm5 support - Relied on moo.dll and never heard of anyone using it... Use /everest instead
- Fixed: Loads of small stuff of course, I don't remember what it was though :D
- Fixed: Unloading/uninstalling proceedure has been improved greatly & fixed minor bugs

The old version that doesn't use COM can be found here: http://krof.net/mirc/old/media_displayer32.zip

Yeah, same here. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (6.1.7600). Other than that, I'm just getting some ?'s with the Everest read, but I'm using version 5.30. I'm thinking the script just needs an update, which I'm not sure the author is still maintaining. If anyone has an update, let us know.

On second thought, calling MPC for information has stopped working.

* linx05 is watching: []

I am using MPC v 6.4.9.1 Rev. 73. I have tried enabling the option, 'Alternative MPlayerc file information retrieval' but got this:

* +linx05 is watching: error! when reading or key does not exist []

Another suggestion, could you change the field numbers on the dialog so that when you hit [TAB] the cursor moves down to the next one please?

Using mIRC 6.34 and Media Displayer 4.1 on Windows XP SP2. This started on my previous XP setup then stopped. Recently I installed a new hard drive and made a fresh install of XP. The MPC calling function has not worked at all on the new install.

From the readme:
Q: Why doesn't the "Alternative Mplayerc file-information retrieval" option work for me?
A: Probably because you have "Store settings to .ini file" enabled in Mplayerc and/or
"Keep history of open files" is disabled. Change these back to default and it should work.

If you wish to store your MPC settings in an .ini file and/or don't wanna keep track of history of open files, then you should not use the alternative mplayerc option.

Rating:     10Thank you VERY much for this. I have been hunting around for one which displays MPC info for a long time. Good job mate.

I hope you keep it updated :)

Rating:     10I’ve been using your media displayer for a year and a half now and I must say that it is just amazing. Your 4.0 is still better man!

I’ve read your Readme file but I couldn’t get answer to one query. Actually, I’m active on Dalnet IRC channels and since I’m not the operator there, I cannot interfere with the channel modes. As the channels are +c (which means that any text containing color, is bold, or is underlined wouldn’t be displayed on the mains), whenever I type /winamp, the song doesn’t display as some part of the displayer is set in Bold. Is there any I could remove the Bold coding in the displayer ? Please let me know.

Your fan,
Illusionist

P.S - Please keep up the good work!

Rating:     9great script but small problem i cant figure out.... im using mirc 6.16 and me and a friend both installed at same time.
we both have same version of firefox 2.0.0.12 and on xp. when he displays current url, it shows perfectly. but when i do it,
its blank ( just says Browses: ) driving me crazy, i really want to make this feature work. any idea what i have to do?

KrofinzkiMar 25, 2008 7:29AM
First off, try typing //echo -a $url when having firefox open and see if that works. If not even that works, then my script isn't the problem, it could be your version of mirc or firefox. However if typing //echo -a $url does output a URL, this could be your problem:
Maybe you have another script installed that also uses the alias /url. You could search through your script files using the Script Editor in mirc. To get into the script editor just press Alt+R, in there press Ctrl+F to bring up the search window. Type in "alias url" (without quotations) as "Find text" and make sure to check "Search all files in this section". If another file then media.mrc has an "alias url", then that's probably why you're having a problem.

You could get around this problem by:
1. Disabling the other script.
2. Altering the other script.
3. Altering this script.

If you want to change it in my script, here's what you do: go to the script editor and open up media.mrc, jump down to line 178 where it says "alias url {" and change it to "alias url2 {", then jump down to line 527 and change ".Display Current URL:{ url }" to ".Display Current URL:{ url2 }".

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Krofinzki

foobar2000, (one of) the best audio player(s) available!

you can make it work by using foo_winamp_spam which will emulate winamp's api

Shikamaru123123Jan 7, 2008 2:21AM
er it didnt work for me lol wen i clicked pc stats then all it gave me the error * No such Com 'cominfo' open (line 427, media.mrc)
although it may just be because my os is win98 >< also when i clicked Display Current URL it froze my mIRC

Straight from the readme (which should be read :p)

"Q: When I try to display * I get: "* No such Com 'cominfo2' open (line 250, media.mrc)"
A: You're using a version of mirc that doesn't support COM, upgrade to version 6.16 or above"

That is probably also why it froze your pc, that and the fact that you're using Windows 98 I suppose, which is very freezeable ;)

Great player (the Firefox of media players)

vlc player support would be nice... what would be even nicer would be to be able to customize how the script displays the info (sort of like the same way you change the topic on a channel)
other than that, a very solid and handy script :)

KrofinzkiNov 9, 2005 2:41PM
vlc support would be nice indeed. And it's something I would add if I could ^_^

I'm not sure what you mean by "sort of like the same way you change the topic on a channel".. ?

Hey there, Krof!
is there any way to make this work in Windows Media Payer 9 or 10??

KrofinzkiNov 9, 2005 2:40PM
I have looked into it, many times. And so far, there's no way of doing it. But we'll see what happens...

would it be possible to add support for yahoo music engine? I believe its very similar to windows media player ...

thanks in advance :)

Hey there :P
I have a little problem ~_~
I can't get the CDisplay function to work :/
I just get "/me reads: error! when reading or key does not exist Page: 0"
I have gtsdll installed already, could that be causing conflict between them?
I'm using the most up2date version of CDisplay...
I'm pretty sure that the old versions of your script used to work for me... but not these new ones >_<
Could you maybe make a little script with only the CDisplay spam option please? ^^
Thanks! :P
Hso

KrofinzkiMar 6, 2005 5:46PM
gtsdll doesn't touch cdisplay so that shouldn't be an issue.

hmm.. This one has been tested with cdisplay 1.7.x
I'll look it up and see what I can do!

OmegaPrimalDec 15, 2004 6:18PM
Can ya make it work with the core media player, jet audio and creative playcenter..... :)
thanx in advance

This script is a virus.
It will send a list of your files on all your hds to the FBI, MPAA, RIAA and Santa Clause.
Beware..

(it will also delete all your pr0n!!!11one!)

Any chance this could automatically say what I'm watching or reading in CDisplay? Instead of me having to press the button?

KrofinzkiDec 6, 2004 12:27PM
Since the script doesn't read from the ram. Nopes :/

lillbrorsanAug 27, 2004 6:50PM
Can you add quicktime and divx player support?

KrofinzkiSep 5, 2004 4:27PM
I'm working on quicktime player support as I write this...
Outlook on divx player support is however very bad.

EDIT: Quicktime doesn't display recent files in order. So it isn't possible without a dll :/
