Average Rating:   8.9   DCX Studio for mIRC v1.4 by twigboy
Description:
DCX Studio provides a drag and drop interface for creating dialogs and provides you with the dialog code.

Submitted Review Author's Updates
Review
DCX's first dialog creator is finally here! Even though it was coded using mIRC script, it's still pretty good. It allows you to create dialogs by dragging and dropping features into a blank dialog box. You can customise everything about the dialog. You can add buttons, check boxes, trackbar, radio buttons, tabs, etc. Through a click of a button you can then view the mIRC code for the dialog you have made.

Reviewed by da^hype
[v1.4 - 21/10/2006]
- main toolbar doesnt have a border anymore
- added a new option to prevent generation of quick-access menu item
- added icons to popup menus
- changed popup menus to vertical style
- added italic styles to listview and treeview items
- added an object browser (needs manual refreshing, extremely incomplete and does nothing useful)
- added noauto to toolbars on the left of dcxstudio to prevent flickering
- added vsbar to list defaults
- fixed bug with docked dialogs on dcxtest dialog not being marked
- fixed flicking of properties dialog when recreating controls
- added some examples of grayscale icons for treeview, comboex
- added dropdown to toolbar sample
- fixed /xdid -w for link control
- added datetime control to studio (but no support for styles, etc)

Note:
This was only released to accommodate for the recent changes to DCX syntax causing numerous errors would be shown in the status window.
I have no intention on continuing this addon as I am currently working on DCX Studio v2.0, and depending on how things progress it may or may not be released.

hm, it's a very good Script with a lot of functions, but it would be perfect, if you integrate an color and font-editor for the controls ^^
and maybe a function to export the created Dialog to an DCXML-Document ^^

sorry for the delayed reply
i dont check this as often as i used to

using release v1.3.7 with dcx studio wont work. for now, either use v1.3.6 for the studio or a dev release of v1.3.8.
the problem has been fixed

dev release build 5 can be found here

doesnt contain TAB control inside "mirc normal controls"
fix it

ClickHeReFeb 14, 2006 6:51PM
think you got this wrong boy

mirc normal controls are reproductions of mIRC's native dialog controls, but they aren't from mIRC

the tab control is in the container part and it ain't a mIRC control either.

DCX does not support mIRC's controls for various compatibility reasons that's why they were recreated.

Nobody has to fix anything... You are not paying twigboy to make this script... so be more polite

TwidoMar 7, 2006 3:26PM
All your comments in this site are like this. Lame and rude.

Fix it.

i get bugs galore with this script.
btw it resides in c:/dcx

wen i load a premade dialog from another script, it only loads the table background & doesnt load the text, boxes, cells or anything i have already made. why?

it also adds x to all did & dialog comands (ie: xdid or xdialog) why?

and last but not least all i get is status window errors for every id /xdid invalid ID : 2 (dialog : test)

is there any dialog creators that can load & edit premade dialogs properly??

twigboySep 10, 2006 12:10AM
what sort of dialog are you trying to load from another script?

"it also adds x to all did & dialog comands (ie: xdid or xdialog) why?"
that is the way DCX works, you might want to take a look through the documentation to figure out why.

as for the errors you are getting, it might depend on what dialog you are trying to import. post the code in the dcx studio thread here

twigboyJun 24, 2006 11:26AM
its a bug related to dcx.dll rather than dcxstudio

feel free to put up a bug report =)

Infernal_DemonFeb 28, 2006 8:20AM
I was messing with the controls and I added a dialog to my main dialog and then press the delete button. After the confirmation dialog mirc crashed :(

twigboyFeb 28, 2006 4:47PM
yeah, its listed on DCX bug report
but i dont think its really a DCX bug
perhaps its the way im doing things on DCX Studio

when a dialog control is deleted i used xdialog -x dialog

if (%msevent == close) {
    xdid -d mircstudio 3 19
    xdid -d mircstudio 3 18
    dialog -v mircstudio
    xdialog -x %msname
    xdialog -x msproperties
    return noclose
  }

As soon as I type /dcxstudio I get a general protection fault on windows 98:
MIRC617 heeft een algemene beschermingsfout veroorzaakt
in module USER.EXE op 0008:0000301c.

twigboyMay 28, 2006 11:02PM
hmm i honestly dont know whats wrong with it...

development of dcxstudio has come to a complete standstill
i have a few minor bugfixes but nothing major as the first two releases
will probably update it once i get the import dbu bug finalised
no new functions, sorry folks

Rating:     10very nice addon, still with some bugs but really great
but as u know the CLA plays an important rule here, when is that gonna be workin?

AttilaMar 5, 2006 7:09PM
very very nice script
just can you add a desktop value to the dialog and i think it bug if i have opened the dcx editor with a dialog and open this dialog with the alias

edit: i caught this bug:
ERROR: /dcxs_script_convertControl: Error converting line: icon 1, 521 79 150 150,

Performing DBU to Pixel conversion... << I dont think this works right. I entered a dialog with the DBU option and everything shower lower then it use to be (e.g 20pixels lower than the normal x). These controls were in a tab. With the rest it worked fine. I think my explenation(?) is difficult to understand so I have a screenshot. PMSG me, if you wish to have this one.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, nice work! Keep it up! :)

You should include a version check in the onload event, because I instantly got an error because of the usage of $qt when loading the dll's on .16

Nice work btw, although it's bug ridden lol.

changed.

which bugs did you have problems with?

NodrenFeb 21, 2006 1:22AM
Rating:     10i LOVE the feature to import a dialog and have it converted automatically to DCX, that will go a long way in converting dialogs i created with dstudio.

however one small bug i noticed, it tried to parse a line i commented out with a ;

it gave it an error and continued on, so it wasnt exactly a show stopping thing, but something easy to fix i'm sure. GREAT JOB!

twigboyFeb 21, 2006 4:03AM
done

twigboyFeb 19, 2006 7:04PM
ok v1.1 released
u might wanna check out the 'authors updates' tab
ALOT of bug fixes and a few new features

sorry to say, CLA editor hasnt been started yet (i honestly have alot of problems getting my head around it)
if anyone can run through a few quick (but well explained) examples for me, it'd be much appreciated

PhantasyXFeb 19, 2006 7:55PM
Good Work! A LOT of updates!

A few things maybe wrong still that I noticed after some testing
I like the highlight when hovering control feature
but when you hover then hover_out it removes the origonal borders from the control, example:
Add a simple "List" - You will notice it has the origonal border (shadow/light)
Hover over it to get the 1px border then hover out, nor more border.

Also an error for the tab feature.
Add a tab, on the 'Control Properties' dialog, delete one of the Panel controls that was added with the tab, now click on one of the tabs and then try clicking in the panel (Text Area). (Depending on which Panel control you deleted you will have to switch tabs. It gives this error:
WARNING: $cname2proptab: known type
ERROR: /dcxtest_cb: unknown control type for ID

Probably easily fixable, Maybe remove the tab header associated with the Panel deleted somehow? =o

Also: When the dialog with the generated code comes up, next to the 'Done' button, maybe a 'Copy All' button for a more user friendly interface.

The newer update is nice, especially witht he docked window that the debug code isn't flooding a channel window or something. =D
Good work, Don't forget everyone! Let's not forget about ClickHere who made this wonderful DLL!

twigboyFeb 20, 2006 5:06AM
fixed tab problem (yup it was fairly simple)

i've added the other ones onto my TODO list
thanks for the details!

*/ $cprop: invalid hash entry control.0.type
*/ $cname: unknown type
/xdid unknown dialog "dcxstudio": see Mark command
/xdid unknown dialog "dcxstudio": see Mark command
/xdid unknown dialog "dcxstudio": see Mark command
/xdid unknown dialog "dcxstudio": see Mark command
*/ $cprop: invalid hash entry control.4.type
*/ $cname: unknown type
/xdid unknown dialog "dcxstudio": see Mark command
/xdid unknown dialog "dcxstudio": see

I tryed opening a dialog I was making.
Good work on the studio, lovely. =D!

twigboyFeb 18, 2006 5:30PM
hm just hang on for a couple of days
i was working on something (on my work pc) and forgot to commit it to svn

i've updated the studio a great deal, and trust me its ALOT faster now when opening/importing/clearing.
and of course plenty of bugfixes + features

Looking shweet, must try for later.

Btw: what the hell is the name of your win theme, been looking for it for ages.

twigboyFeb 13, 2006 5:30PM
royale, its an official micro$oft theme

NodrenFeb 14, 2006 12:08AM
if you bug someone with windows media center you can port it to any windows xp computer that uses any theming program or a cracked uxtheme.dll file.

the theme is located in c:\windows\resources\themes\

Rating:     6Not too great having "todo" on a lot of the features but I guess it's ok if you want a really simple DCX dialog...
When I opened it, it tried to maximise but got stuck between the screens. Fortunately, restore works fine.
Haven't found a use for the big space in the main dialog yet (the one with the peculiarly-positioned progress bar). What does it do?

twigboyFeb 13, 2006 5:33PM
i accidently left that in, and hixxy declined my submission on mirc.net coz of that
i was gonna fix up a few things and THEN release but i didnt know dahype passed it through

the progress bar was meant to be for the loading/saving/importing feature to show how much was done
and the main space, i was going to add some sort of "status/debug" window there to show whats going on internally (instead of showing it directly to ur status/active window
problem is, i dont really know how to use CLA properly, so im having some problems getting it to fit nicely

Infernal_DemonFeb 13, 2006 9:12AM
