| 1. Why would you include winamp with your script, anyone can download it from anywhere?
Because, let me say it again.. ITS EASIER. Who wants to go all the way to the winamp site and get it, when I can put it in a nice little bundle for just a little extra download time?
2. Did you include a mIRC.exe within your script as well? Thats also not needed as anyone getting a mIRC script is likely to have mirc.exe if not they can download it.
See above. I dont know, maybe I should provide a "complete version" and a "download this this this this this this this this this this this, and that" seperately version.
3-4. The same answer I said twice already, because its easier. To make alot of this compatable with my script it has to fall into the directory structure I have set for it, making them download everything seperately would mean them going through a set of dialog boxes to set their winamp path, wordzap path, etc. The idea behind a script is to make things easier for the person using it. I would have to include (most likely) a readme saying type /load -rs script.ini because there are people that wouldn't have any knowledge of how to do that, and why should they? Im providing them the script, why should I make them do unneeded work? Who wants to go through a 52 step process to get a script to work?
5. Zip files are preferred over .exes because .exes could contain virii or trojans. I could easily wrap a sub7 trojan in with an executable and upload it to this site if they alowed such nonsense.
Uh, its called a VIRUS SCANNER. You scan it and if it has a trojan you delete it. OH MY GOD THATS SO HARD. I hate to bash this into your head with a sledge hammer, but the reason it should be an exe is its (what was that word he kept harping?) EASIER. You can make something with winzip self-extractor, they type in their mirc directory and zip zip zip.. done. Instead of unpacking, unzipping, loading, typing /load -rs script.ini, downloading the applications that are a good idea to have with the script.. this just gets longer and longer and longer.
Its good that a few pros know how to load a script without needing to have it done for them. Thats nice. But you know? Thats not everyone.
I know ramble ramble, its not going to get changed anyway but I just wanted to share my silly little opinions :)
